Why GIFs May Not Play

Microsoft Outlook before version 2008 does not support animated GIFs. Additionally, if you are using an incompatible email client, GIFs may not play correctly.

Solution for Older Outlook Versions

If you are using Outlook for Office 365 before version 2008, you must enable the "Play animated GIFs" option in the Advanced settings. Here's how:

1. Click on "File" > "Options".
2. Select "Advanced" in the left-hand pane.
3. Under the "Display" section, check the box next to "Play animated GIFs".

Solution for Incompatible Email Clients

If your email client does not support animated GIFs, you will need to use a compatible application to view them. Here are some options:

• Open the GIF file in PreviewProperties window in Outlook.
• Use a web browser such as Chrome or Firefox to view the GIF.
